Bells Play Initiative

As an Ukrainian American, I was devastated by the second Russian invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022. I turned that devastation into action by founding Support Ukraine With Us, a nonprofit delivering direct aid in war-impacted areas.

To mark the day of the invasion and stand in solidarity with the Ukrainian people, I organized the ringing of Ukraine’s national anthem at the UC Berkeley Campanile on February 24, 2023.

What began with one tower in 2023 expanded to eight towers in 2024 and to more than 50 tower and church performances in 2025.

Our goal:

As the full-scale war against Ukraine enters its fifth year, I hope to spread warmth and support for the Ukrainian people around the world on February 24, 2026.

About Me

After war broke out in Ukraine, I took a year off my graduate studies (Spring 2022 and Fall 2022). In the first 6 months of the war, I founded a 501c3 non-profit organization called "Support Ukraine With Us" while residing in the U.S. I spent the next 6 months in Ukraine, specifically in Dnipro, Kyiv, and Lviv, working on various humanitarian projects. In the span of that year, I was able to raise around $500,000 for aid.

This experience had a profound impact on me, ultimately influencing the direction of my current research after I returned to Berkeley in January 2023.
